what do you all think about the new Sport FWD rules???
stuff like the no fuel cell, and that the slicks must remain in the fenders...
I have a fuel cell in the trunk of my daily driver and am not fitting anything bigger then a 7" slick inside the stock fenders. Maybe I'm bitter because I just bought a set of 13x8 keisers!
it's been a few weeks since I've heard of the new rules...

i think the rules are ok. the fuel cell rule is whatever. i mean most street cars don't run them. but i am not opposed to a car having one, as long as theres a weight requirement for all and the guy with the fuel cell meets that requirement. i think there should be a tire size limit for the street class. fitment under the wheel well just means, no cutting of the 1/4 panel and nothing too wide. a civic will fit a 25"x8" M&H legally with no problems. thats plenty for the class. i sold my car a year too early.
its gonna be a FAST class by the end of this summer!!!!!!

what if the slicks stick out a little pass the fenders because of wheel spacers? and "matching front seats." so, an aftermarket driver's seat and factory passenger's seat would not be allowed?

ps...i think the rules suck!! i want an FWD drag radial class w/ no slicks allowed and wieght breaks for Sohcs.

For the most part, I like them a lot. As someone mentioned earlier, I'd also like to see fuel cells allowed with the addition of a weight penalty (maybe a minimum capacity on the cell too). One addition i would like to see is a rule similar to those used in the big domestic street car classes (NMCA, PSCA, etc). The limiting of lettering to windows (except for series sponsors). After all, this is a grass-roots type STREET car class. Limiting lettering to the windows only would keep big money sponsors out of the class (at least for a little while).

I think the rules are similar to street class rules for nira, and ndra , and battle for the years past. A little stricter, with weight and full exhaust but fair. I agree with the sohc weight break, but how much? Sohc's can make power, just not as reliable as dohc's so I think you can push em as hard as dohc if you want em to last. I know Sav was making over 400 with his when he hit 10.6's. So I dont know what the weight break could be? 2200? Plus Savs, was not even using nos, so I dont know how handicaped the sohc is? D-man dont bite my head off to that, just tell me what you think. I also just thought this what about nitrous as a single power adder those car should have a weight break also? Jason

I think theyre really tailored for the true daily car. Some might not like it but you gotta understand not everyone out there has aftermarket fuel cells and such. i like it cause it really cuts alot into the gray areas. It really gives a chance for all the gusy out there with stock chassis a chanc to play. Agh Agh Agh More power.goodluck this season guys-pdang
I really like the rules. I think it was wise to allow the use of slicks but I would of been happy either way. My only gripe is that they didnt make it a point series. I know I would of traveled abit. Matter of fact I will be making the journey to palm beach in april
Fuel cells are not the end all be all guys.....the factory tank doesnt weigh that much, and if its a fuel pump issue, weld in a sump. So far most of the Hondas out there use steel tanks, so weld in sumps are possible. BTW if you get the use of fuel cells with the addition of a weight penatly you open up a big problem DSM's have been having in the street class....they have plastic tanks, and for them to get a super high flowing pump in it is almost impossible. You just ask for more DSM's to go faster then they already are. Just a thought....

if the slicks stick out a little..like a 1" or so they're not gonna bother you..and you can have two diff seats and long as you have two

according to NHRA rules: "Two matching front seats mandatory. Aftermarket seats permitted but, must be fully upholestered."
I would be happy with a 100lbs wieght break but i would really like to see 200lbs
hey boosted,if your so worried about not having matching seats, just buy a set of seat covers and hide them, the techs dont really check jack.take this for example,i ran for 2 years with my battery box mounted right behind the passenger seat,no cuttoff. They aint looking that hard and following the rulebook to the letter esp at a big event when theyre overwhelmed with cars.

when you run heads up the techs look at your car with a lot mroe scrutiny.

whats the minium wieght for this class, I mean my hf crx with me in it doesnt even wiegh 2200 and thats full interior.(crx full interior haha)
Minimum weight ( including driver's weight ) with one power adder is 2300lbs.
With two power adders is 2400lbs ( dirver's weight included ).

Thats not too bad, I thought it would be higher. Since you have to have all your interior most stock hondas wieght up the upper 2500s or so. I guess it pays to roll an old dirty crx, haha.
I like the new class, it is the only hope I have of ever being competitive or at least comparable. Levels the field for the guys on a budget. Some of us don't have Python's money if you know what I mean.

The 8.90's the pro class are pulling down is a little discouraging to a guy like me. At least the street class will reign things in a little, so we stil FEEL like we COULD compete.
Sometimes if we have hope for winning it keeps us motivated. I think that it will help the industry across the board. Sort of a keep in touch with the little guy class. Something we can all relate and aspire to. Know what I mean?
There will be cars pushing the limits of the class as always, but that keeps it interesting.
I hope to hear and (who know's) maybe see some of you guys out there!
