Default body work/Paint Job ?

I have a 1993 Civic hatch, white. I need the bottom part below the gas tank cover and lower to be replaced(near the wheel well) cuz its dented in bad. What would be a price for welding a new piece in and primering it ?

Also, I wanted to know what is the going cost for a decent paint job ? Im from chicago. I was considering....dare I say it....Maaco, like one of their better ones. Or is a real paint job too expensive ?

Any opinions on the quality of Maaco paint job ?

i have heard some different stories. many horror ones and some others that were not too bad. my bro got his civ painted. it looked pretty good except the hood. you could tell they did not prep it at all. your best bet. is to prep it yourself, and then bring it to them to shoot it. will be cheaper that way and also will look much better.make sure they do a base clear coat and not a one stepper.

are you talking about replacing the rear quarter panel?

replacing the 1/4 panel is alot of time and labor, your best bet would be to go to a shop and see what they can do. They might be able to straighten it out for you with replacing the panel.

your better off painting your car with house paint and a roller! the quality is ****, the prep work is ****, and it wont last more than a year before it starts to fade and flake and look like ****. IMHO a car would look better all primered and different colors than it would if it was painted at maaco. paint jobs from a "real" body shop will vary depending on how crazy you want to get. Do you want to keep it the same color? do you want metallic, pearl, etc... if you get it painted, definately go with BC/CC its much more durable and looks 100% better than single stage paints. you can save yourself some $ by doing some prep work yourself wich isnt that hard.
