Default Registering an out-of-state bike

Can anyone give me some ideas about what I'll need to register an out-of-state (Texas) bike (Honda CBR-F3) in California? I checked on the DMV website, and it doesn't seem too hard. What modifications, if any, would I need to make the bike 50-state-legal? TIA.

well its simple, pass state inspection... and pay tax and you're registered as long as you have clear title in your name. You might have trouble w/ emissions though since you're CA. Especially if its a newer bike as they have CA emissions equipment as opposed to 49 state bikes.

Would this entail installation of emissions equipment?

Don't quote me, but I think if your bike has 7500 miles on it already it's no big deal to register in Cali - bikes don't have to deal with emissions either. I just moved from cali.

The reason they want the bike to have mileage on it is that you don't go to nevada and buy a 49 state bike (as opposed to the CA model) and bring it over. There's ways around that too.

Thanks for your help! I went to the DMV and got the bike checked out. All they needed were the VIN and engine #s (besides mileage, engine size, etc.). Took all of 5 minutes (most of it was me taking off the side fairings).

Now all I have to do is turn in the paperwork. Unfortunately, the lines at the local DMV are insane.

Thanks again!
