Why arent there more SOHC's in Drag Racing?
There is so much potential there. Someone with money has the potential to come in and be running 9's all motor soon. I bet if Bisi had more sponsorship he would be in the 9's. The D motor is 100lbs lighter than the B, and you get weight breaks too dont you?
Theres potential, but just not as much as B and H motors. If i were building a drag only project I would ditch the D16, but my car is for the street so D16Z6 is fine for me.
It would be neat to see someone dump tons of money on these motors to see how fast it can go. you never know people hate on these motors but its the same prejudice<-spelling that v8 guys have against hondas. But than again Im might just be talking out of my ***-pdang

peeps dont believe in the single cam, you can see it on these forums
it costs less to build a single cam for boost, and make more horespower, safely than what a stock B series costs. I just hope companies come out with better trannies for a single cam because SOHC trannies SUCK.

weight limits are less on race cars with D series.
check the sanctioning bodies.. each have their own limits.

I know, Bisi has probably put less than half the amount of money as most of the B all motor guys into his D.
But I still think it costs just as much.
I dont know him myself, but people who do know he hates to spend money. Yes he has custom pistons, rods, crank, but its all easy stuff to make, no more than a set of eagles, and JE's.
Then slap on some carbs, and you have a 290hp 1530cc motor.
I wish it were that easy.
Im a big fan of grass roots do it yourself inovation, i think its going to show in the next year or so, some of these guys have very fast D's, i bet it scares atol of people.

3 years ago i was running 10.6's all day with my single cam with no wheelie bars or suspension. they way I have my chassis now and they ability to make a little more power i know a sohc would be a consitent 9 sec car. but in Hot Rod you are going to need to run an 8 just to qualify next year!! the sohc trans ain't the best and their isn't enough demand to make parts for it
Sorry Justin, I didnt pay $800 like my twin cam peers for camshafts, did not have to buy 2 sprockets or even pay a mint for a head, motor and a tranny, and I use cost effective carbs...no expensive injectors, ITBs or fuel management, no twin/triple clutch systems. I would bet that my set up is more cost effective than any 10second prostock/all motor powerplant in our class. It is sad that people asssume that I invest significantly on my setup, only because my race car is competitive. Remember, it is only a hobby for me, and I am miserly!
Congrats for you hard work Bisimoto! Even in montreal, canada you get respect

hell, if nhra gave a 200 or 300 lb break then I would definitely do a SOHC pro stock setup ...
Bisi rules because of what he was able to accomplish with I'm sure a lil bit of money ... cam grinds will prolly be the hardest to do to get the ideal overlap on one shaft for an intake and exhasut lobe ...

First off i would like to say hello to all. I am running a SOHC with boost and it is very impressive. Good luck on all your buildups and hope to see some around at nationals this year.
