Volk TE-37 w/ Falken Azenis--Rubbing??
Picked up a set of 16x7 +42 Offset TE-37s yesterday... I have the R lowered with Spoon Springs... Tires on the wheels are Falken Azenis--205/50 R16.... Don't know if I did my search correctly..didn't find the right answers, but I was wondering if these wheels will rub under certain circumstances (major bumps or what not)... I have them installed on the R and how the Spoon Springs sit--the rear tends to be lower than the front... In the rear, there is no room for even a finger.. the front is ok....
I took the car out for a quick spin yesterday on the freeway and it seems fine, but I've read on a post before that the Azenis are a bit wider... now would a different brand of tire sit better on car?? Really don't want rubbing to occur...

My only worry with Azenis is the rear suspension. Sometimes the inside of the tire will rub, but all ya need is a lil spacer and yur good to go.
Not to sound slow, but what will the spacer do??... from the looks of things.. the wheel seems to almost sit under the fender a tad bit... it seems to be only 1cm away from rubbing the plastic lining on the fender....
I have the exact same setup as you and it WILL rub. Nothing too drastic, but mine rub in hard turns only. Other than that they are ok...so far, I have yet to track or Autox with them on. Hope I helped.
Yeah, thanks... but I think autocrossing with them would cause real bad rubbing then... the Azenis just seem real wide... I saw a post once with a picture of the Azenis compared to another set of tires with the same specs and they seem way wider....
After about two weeks with them on I pulled the wheels to check exactly where they were rubbing and it only seems to be about a 1 1/2 inch long area on the rubber liner thingy. I'm thinking of taking a rubber mallet to her....anyone wanna give out some tips in doing this?
ohhhhh wait, I just saw you have 205/50's...is that right? Mine are 215/45 16 so I am running wider than you. Mine are so minimal that with a 205 I dont think you would rub at all.

dont know if they will help..but i'm running 205/50/15 azenis on 15x7 +43 volks. i am still, however, on stock suspension. but I think if i did lower it, it would look like it would rub (especially in the rear), as the tires seem to sit "outside" the fender just a tad
On your setup, you still have a gap... I don't.. the only way to feel the gap is to slide my finger between the gap.. and it's slim.... one more question on your setup.... is it ok to use the stock lugnuts with them?? or is it better to use the Volk nuts.... I was going to pick a set up as well....
I wouldn't use stocks but the ones that come with the wheels(if you got them new)....if you want you can have mine that came with the wheels, I bought a set of the lightweight bling bling rays lugs.

Do they make 205-50-16? I thought the only 16" size was 215-45-16.
i don't see why 205's would rub on your car... if they do, i would probably chance to guess that you're car is lowered too low. i have the same rims and am running the 215/45-16 azenis without any rubbing issues for daily driving. track/autox is a different story, since i have yet to run this particular setup on these rims/tires yet.
Do you have a system in your car? I am not sure about the springs you have... but I have H&R sport springs on my car and it sits perfect. The back is barely higher than the front. I did have a problem when I had a system where the back did rub on the stock wheels with Falken Ziex tires.
Have you thought about Bridgestone SO-3's in 205/50/16.... Lil wider than normal 205, but not as wide as Azenis.

frogsr--My car is lowered with Spoon Progressive Springs and the ride height and drop is good... I was just wondering if they would ever rub.. it hasn't yet.. I've taken it on the freeway at 65-70mph and at the end of the drive always check for rubbing, but none yet so I'm a little assured now that it won't.
TypeR 01 886--No system in my car.. not a big fan of them...IMO, it's just too much unnecessary weight...
azn98R--I've thought about the S0-3s... I'm trying to get a set for my stock set of rims (GM) and another set of Azenis for other set of stock rims (CW)... I was only wondering about the TE-37s because that's how they came when I got them..

Here are a couple of pictures of the TE37s and them on the car:
This is a shot of the 96 ITR @ passwordJDM when I went down to LA to pick up the wheels...thanks to Steven @ passwordJDM
Sorry for the nasty night pictures... I tried to lighten them up as much as possible.. Will take more during the day....
