Hx head any good???
I was wondering if the hx head is worth putting on my d16a6 bottom end??? i already have a z6 head...since the hx head has roller rockers it should make better numbers than a z6 if i put in a z6 cam correct? well please tell me youre thoughts......i was going to run this motor obd-0 by the way and use a switch for vtec
do some research. Find out the numbers ont the head, port sizes etc... If the ports are larger on you Z6 keep it if the same use the HX if smaller then you could transfer everything to your Z6 head minus the cam since you would use your own. Then with the roller rockers you would be able to reach Higher rpms smoother and be able to have a really aggressive cam if you hade the money to get one custom made. Have fun.
interesting i've got an hx head...i wonder if the rollers will fit onto an a6 head...that would be some kick *** ****
edit...hehe i've got something to do this weekend, w00t!

I'm going to try out the roller rockers on my a6 this weekend, and i'll let you all know how the whole deal is...some stuff i wanna get straight though...do i do the torque specs for the a6 or y5 (hx) when bolting the roller rockers down to the head and do i do the clearences of the a6 or the hx? I was planning on doing the a6 but i just want to be sure. Anyone know the valve length of the hx?
anyway i'll have to do some more research, apperently the lobes on the camshaft have to be much more fat and square, the other stuff uses skinny asymmetrical arc lobes so they properly contact the rockers...I'll do some measuring and let the N/A people who care, know...
edit: this may be some sort of hybrid advancement for the cool people...but then again it just might not work

Just to let everyone know i looked at the hx valvetrain tonight, the way its set up is that only 1 of the intake valves are actually used for injecting a & f. The other is used just to swirl the mixture (and isn't a roller rocker), and the make up of the roller rockers is alot different than the make up of the rockers on the a6...The whole roller rocker conversion may be able to be done with nothing but 16 exhaust rockers, but even then, there are alot of differences to be worked out, and as far as i see it, the trouble isn't worth the gain...so thats that.

Neither Y8 nor Z6 cam will work with HX valvetrain. No part of HX valvetrain will fit in A6. Don't waste your time. HX and EX (Y8) head castings are IDENTICAL. HX head = good. Just get a cam and stiffer springs for it. Many of the EX performance parts (except cam) will drop in. Set VTEC for 3K with RPM switch, or weld so VTEC is always on. Ciao.
