custom valve clearance specs??
1. I'm working on an lsvtec: b18c Head, B18b block with oem USDM Integra type-r pistons. I am using the b18c specs for vavle clearance. Should it be something else?
2. The lsvtec ran fine before the type-r pistons were installed. After installation, it started to tick(clap or knock...however you want to describe it) upon cold start-up. When warmed up the engine would sound fine. After driving the teg, the ticking comes back when the pedal is gassed almost all the way down. I noticed it happens most at low RPMs(while the pedal is pushed all the way down), and maybe even on higher RPMs (hard to tell, when the teg is growling..
)
It sounded like a valve tapping so i did a valve adjustment, not once, not twice, but three times. No luck. Double checked timing, which is set 18 degree BTDC (should it be more or less?) Still no luck. Hardly doubted it, because compression wasn't that high with USDM-R slugs, but got some octane booster anyways, thought 91 octance my be too low for compression which may cause knocking. Still tapping.
I havn't had time to do a compression test yet. Last time i did one (with original b18B slugs) one of the cylinders were WAY off, but never had a problem with tapping. The block is replaced with new rings, bearings, seals. The head is the same with all original parts. But anyways, I have a big hunch it's posibbly a bent valve. Any suggestions, ideas, or comments on my situation would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

on my B18B I did a valve job 4 times, and never got the tapping to completely go away. I went from one end of the spectrum to the other of the +- of the clearences. Like if it said 0.012" - 0.008", I went all over and never got it to go away.
