battery died.. now factory CD player wont work....HELP!
so yea, my car battery died, so i got it jumped, then i turn on the cd player and it has all this weird **** when i press the numbers... so i put a cd in anyway thinking it might work and now the cd is jammed in there, and i found out that i have to enter a secret code(which i dont know).. the thing is, i cant press the numbers anymore b/c the cd is jammed in there, all it says is "Err 3".. should i take it apart? or is there something an acura dealership can do for me w/o raping me for my money. i'm not a big fan of fancy sound systems, just want my stock one to work again. can anyone help?
>and how would i go about taking out a cd that is jammed in there?

All you need is the security code for the CD player.
I have access to this at my dealership. But since you are somewhat a newbie, I'll need numerous references by long term members before I will give them to you.
By the way, I need the serial number off the radio to obtain the code.

len, im not really a newbie, just had to reregister b/c my old name "jt240" wont let me log in for some reason. but yea, i dont think references will be a prob. but anyway, i know i need a security code from acura and i need my serial #, the thing is, i CANT EVEN access the point whereim able to type in the security code, theres a cd jammed in there and all it will say is "ERR 3".. basically, the entire thing is deactivated from function besides the power. My first Q is, how can i get the cd out so itll stop saying "ERR 3" and actually let me get to where i am able to type in the code(which i can hopefully get from you after i figure this jammed cd prob first) thanks.
if you want to reset it again, disconnect your neg terminal on the battery. then put it back on. that should reset your radio.
as for the CD, it should come out as soon as the radio resets!

I got a 96 SE. The code is the panel that covers the fuse box down left of the steering wheel. Theres all kinds of numbers and stuff on the back of the panel, but theres one that 5 digits (mine is behind the plastic sheet actually affixed to the panel plastic) thats made up of number that you can type in with the preset buttons, as in all the numbers are 1-6. Should look something like 24621.

If you cant find the code, like Len says, you can go to your local dealership with your ID & registration, and they should be able to pull up your code with the VIN. Some dealerships may be shady and try to charge you, but just argue about it...it takes 2 minutes, they shouldnt charge anything.

Also, he will need the serial code off of the radio. We use to could pull it directly off the VIN, but Acura/Honda has taken safety measures and updated the Interactive Network (iN) and now we have to log a user ID and serial code off the radio in order for it to work. If you are lucky, you can go up to your dealership, if you ever had your car serviced there, and they might have your records on file.

Is the serial number anywhere on the car besides on the cd player which I will have to yank out to get? All the suggested places that would supposively have my 5 digit code were unsuccessful as of yet. Looks like I'm going to have to yank the deck out, get the serial, and go to the nearest acura(1 hour away)...
mine was under my ashtray but since my car was tehft salvaged and it seemed to much of a hassle to go get the code i just installed my old kenwood headunit off my old teg HTH!
nope, wasn't under the ashtray, BUT it was on the flipside of my armrest!... i was looking for a screwdriver in there and saw a white sticker and one number on there had 5 digits.... so i typed that in and magic! my cd player is unlocked. Thanks for all the tips guys
