bad main bearing

Default bad main bearing

what are the odds of my main bearing gone bad? i have a 91 accord lx...215k. i havent herd of a main bearing going bad in a honda ever..well before the engine went, but i dont know. i kno theres no way to tell unless i rip my tranny out but i was just seeing if its common at all w/ that old of an engine and if the odds my are bad are good or not.

good question, im not too sure on the mains. You can actually inspect the crank without having to remove the tranny, just drop the oil pan and gridle to get a good look.

Odds are very good. In fact, many Accord engines end up that way. I had this problem on my A20, then a similar problem on my F22B1, it was a rod bearing that had gone bad, and I'm starting to hear the sound it makes again on my replacement F22B1.

I've never seen an f-series main bearing only. I've seen a couple on h-series though.

damn H series. ive spun too. mainly u spin bearings due to excessive RPM and or lack of oil pressure. how hold is your oil pump..

so, what are the symptoms (sounds, ect) that indicate a bad bearing??? I swear it sounds like I have a rocker loose in my B2, but everyone says it just the honda sewing machine....

lack of power i mean lack of power.. and it kinda sounds like a rod knockin but not too loud..

Your oil pressure will get so low you will have the oil light light up, especially at idle
