Default Blue Book value=$9,350?

I priced an S2000 out today and asked them what i could get on a trade-in for my 97R with 31,000 miles..He told me it was worth $9350 and when i flipped out he showed me the book..I think the book was Gawels guide or something..I think this price is ridiculous and i challenge anyone to find an ITR in decent condition for this price..Needless to say i won't be trading it in..

That's ridiculous, I don't think ANY 97 Integra would go for that little...

LISTEN TO ME!

That book is designed for dealer to make out like bandits.

If your serious about selling your car, go back to the dealer and tell him to go **** themselfs. Its as simple as that.

That book they use"Gawels" is used to dick over the customers and is bad business.

Those blue book values don't take into consideration the rarity and the heart of the car, its just a mathematical computation of how much the car costs, and how much it costs with depreciation.

When 'blue book' is spoken of they are talking about kelly blue book (www.kbb.com). I wouldn't put any credibility into any of the other estimating services because they may not be using a representative sample for their pricing. As far as getting a fair trade-in value on a car like an ITR, the only dealership that might do that for you is an Acura dealership or a dealership that sells highline used cars. Either way you're still going to get a lot more for your car if you sell it yourself.

But if you go to KBB.COM it said: At this time Kelley Blue Book does not have the necessary data to assess this vehicle. Ample turnover must occur in the marketplace before Kelley Blue Book can report a value for this vehicle.

A car is only worth what people are willing to pay for it.

97 R w/ less then 32K = <16K and up!
^%%^dealers.

It sucks that such resources as NADA and other used car guides give a "guestimate" of what the ITR is worth, and not proper researched values. It hurts us, the owners, in the end. Wonder how they would feel if it was the other way around.

I'd pay atleast $16,000.
Just wait in about ten-twenty years.Kelly blue-book will say like $1,500.00 but they'll be selling for much much more than that.

These guides are not to going to assess the R's real value. They don't take into account supply and demand. They're only taking a 24 k or so car and depreciating it year after year. After a car's fouth year the value really drops.

R59, don't listen to those SCUMBAG dealers. I agree with bbasso. I guarantee that those scumbag dealers would give you $10k for your R then turn around and sell it on their lot for $17k easily, if not more.. At a local Mini Cooper dealer here in northern N.J. these IDIOTS were selling a 2001 PY ITR with 20k miles for $28K!! Didn't even have the stock Bridgestones on it.. When the RETARD at the dealer asked me to make an offer, I told him that their asking price was an insult and my offer would not be even close to their price.. Sell your R privately.. Good luck.

you never get what the cars actually worth when you trade it in. Dealers gotta make their money somehow. Better off just trying to sell it before getting the S2K.

My credit union valued my 24k mile '97 R in late July 2002 (when I bought mine) at $14,400. I paid well over that though.

ok...let me get this straight...you plan to sell your 1997 ITR and get an S2000? hmmmm....considering there were only 400 of the ITR that shipped here in the US that year, i'd hang onto the ITR...it's a rare import and more of a 'classic' to us import drivers. if you have to sell it, sell it privately. i know someone here posted that there were only like 400 ITR's shipped to the US in 1997...ask around...

sell it privately..

That's all you can do with such a rare car that doesn't lose it's value as fast as the normal integra does..
