ITR LSD in a LS tranny
HEy I was woundering if a ITR lsd fit into a 96 ls tranny. If yes what will I need ? I can get the LSD with 4000 miles for 250 plus 35 shipping so I can't let it go. PLEASE HELP!
yeah it'll fit, it's all B-series parts. I have an ITR LSD in my gs-r. I had it done at a shop though, so I don't know what it requires to do, but it should bolt right up.
You need the 4.400 final drive ring gear from any B-series tranny with a 4.400 final drive (GSR, ITR, B16, etc). Then you need the countershaft also from a 4.400 tranny to slide your LS gears on. The 4.266 LS final drive ring gear has the same number of teeth as the 4.400 FD gear, AND the 4.266 countershaft has the same number of teeth for the idle gear as the 4.400 one...just as an FYI. But you do need the correct ones, as they are slightly different in tolerances. Everything just bolts right up.
about how much will it cost for everything else besides the tranny?
will me and the helms put it in or i need more experience?

Technically, all you need is the Helms. It's basically all common sense stuff...however, since you're messing around inside the tranny, it's not that easy.
Can you remove the tranny easily? Have you ever done a clutch install? Motor swap? If you can do these, then the procedure should be okay for you. It's about on par with difficulty as those.
Another option is if you can just remove the tranny, and give the tranny and your parts to a transmission shop and have them do it. Since everything is out, they won't charge you much at all.
