lightweight flywheel- quantifiable results please.
could anyone out there with lightweight flywheels give me some results??
i'm not interested in the feel, the loss of inertia, driveability issues.
i basically want to know what your car did through the 1/4 before the flywheel, and what it did after the flywheel. Thanks
oh yeah, please- only give me results if it was the only variable changed between runs.

ive never had mine on the track before or after the flywheel was installed.
i went from the stock 18lbs flywheel to a 8lbs aluminium one and i do not regret doing so at all........acceleration from a start is incredible. i highly recommend that you get one......
i dont see how some people say that they accually produce slower times with a light weight flywheel it sure seems to rip through the gears much faster.....especially gears 1-2-3

the lightened flywheel will DEFINITELY help with acclearation. but just to let you know...it can be "too" light. if you try to drag race a car with a "ultra light" flywheel, you'll just be revving the hell out of your motor but not going anywhere....

I've heard that a flywheel isn't a mod to do to decrease 1/4 mile times but rather a mod to do if you autocross or something where you need throttle response and there's a lot of acceleration and speeding up and slowing down... I have a Clutchmasters lightweight flywheel and my only problem is I think everyday about how much more stress I must be putting on my synchros... time to learn how to heel-toe or double clutch.

Damn, I never thought about how much more the synchros are going to have to work. I just ordered a 12.5 pound FW and new clutch that will be going in sometime this week. The car has 138K on it. Lets hope the tranny and the synchros will hold up for a while
I say that because on your normal flywheel its got enough mass that the revs drop slow enough while shifting that they are in the proper range of where you need them to be on an upshift. On the lightweight one though, the revs are already down to 1000 - 2000 rpms by the time you shift so they are making the trip all the way down and the synchros are bringing them all the way back up. A case where supposedly "synchro killing" short shifters may actually help the tranny last longer? Perhaps... but I don't have $200 to test the hypothesis so I'll just get some shifter bushings.
