Just Got VIS Carbon Fiber Hood
It helps if you attach the rubber lining that was on the front of your old hood... hood pins aren't necessary, but it's still a good idea.

I have a VIS hood on my civic, don't need hood pins but it isn't a bad idea. It was a lot ligher than my stock one. And yes the little rubber stock piece helps the fitment look cleaner.
need no, recommend yes.
I dont remember the stock weight...mid 30's? I said it before, CF hoods are DEFINITELY not performance modifications!
Don't worry about the looks. The rubber stops the wind getting under the hood, Lifting it and smashing your wind shield and roof.
Hood pins on any CF Hood.
Later.

I had pins on my CBF hood before i left for U.K and while I was gone I had a private guy re-condition everything, ie Lacquer, lots of clear coat. when I got back the hood pins were no longer on so I just drove down the road to my house. Happened to drive a little fatser and around 65 it popped up and smash into me. Scared the crap out of me so yes definetly hood pins. There was no rubber strip on the underside but the fitment was contact with bumper.
need no, recommend yes.
BTW VIS Integra Hood, according to VIS = 19lbs.

You might be able to gt away not using them, but make sure that you attatch all of the rubber seals securley. When I got my vis for my g2, it did not have the holes for the secondary hood rubber. i had to drill them myself. And the holes for the primary hood rubber werent in very goos shape either, I had to drill them out a bit too. Take the time to turn the hood over and make sure that all of the stock hardware is transferred over.
Your average CF hood is around 13-15lbs (depending on quality of construction...some of the cheapies are obviously lighter), so youre looking at an extra 5lbs with the VIS hood. Again...$400+ for a 15lbs weight savings is definitely not under the "bang for your buck" category

gotta pay to play
Aside from removing certain parts all-together (e.g., power steering, airbags, interior), 15 lbs. doesn't come much more cheaply than that.
personally if the hood latches fine then i wouldnt get them. My mb autosport hood didnt latch so i had to cut the latch off and install hood pins (this was on my celica)
better then those flimsy paper thin hoods imo.
cf hood for weight savings
cf hood for looks
