Default Air to Water intercoolers?

I was just wondering how an air to water intoercooler works. How does the cold from the water cool the air?? How does the air flow through one of these intercoolers? Thanks

Ever seen the inside of an air-air. Same concept just smaller, and the tubes run through a chamber filled with water. Actually the heat energy is transfered to the water. PWR are the best in my opinion, but the spearco's are proven to be very competitive.

Correct me if I am wrong but I would say that it works backwards from how your radiator works. Instead of air cooling the water, water is cooling the air.
