Castrol vs Mobile 1 synthetic Oil???????? Which one would you recommend?
I have a 96 Integra gsr going on 90k. I was using mobil 1 synthetic 10w30, then my friend told me that it was to thin and to go castrol 10w30 non-synthetic. What should I use???????????
The new Mobil 1 "super syn" sucks. It's not even full synthetic. But then again neither is Castrol Syntec. So I say, go with Redline.

castrol syntec is a group III oil which is dino oil that has been refined enough to be called a synthetic.
BTW, i use mobil 1 10w-30.

i have been using this for many years...and id never had any problem at all..its even recommended for Porsche...so i dont understand why some people dont like it...i think, it all depends on ur preference...Castrol is pretty good too and thats what BMW recommends on all their cars
Can't go wrong either way, get what is available in your area. Mobil is always sold out so I buy Castrol. Just change it regularly and you'll be fine.

I'm runing 5w 30, I run my car pretty good. No oil usage at all.
I have 46k on the engine.. I doubt its the engine..
I ran the car with Mobil 1 5W30 from 80K to about 130K. After that, I switched back to dino oil using Castrol GTX 5W30. I personally don't think there is a difference between the two. I do burn less Castrol than Mobil however!
i switched to amsoil 10w-30 after using mobil 1 10w-30 for the last 45k on my gsr. i burn off about two quarts every 4k with mobil 1, so i'll give the amsoil a try.
If you are looking for a higher-end oil try Amsoil or Royal Purple. But Mobile 1 is a great product. Think about it this way. The ZO6, the 911 (Carrera 2/4 GT3, Turbo, GT2), Viper, Mercedes, M5, M3, and a big list of others come from the factory with that oil already installed. If it is good enough for them, it should be okay for an Integra.
ejprimo knows his stuff.
Mobil 1 is the real synthetic one.More than that, the new Super Syn outperforms the TrySyn.

you should use 5w-30 all year round, 10w-30 is a winter oil, it is thicker than 5w-30
I think you meant that 10w-30 is a summer oil.
yea..i would use redline too..if u got the $$ for 7 bux a quart
what do u guys think of valvoline syn?

just my input
I bought my 94 Teg with 9,000 miles on it 5 years ago, I've ALWAYS put Mobil 1 synthetic oil in it [5w30]. The other day my mechanic needed to change the valve cover gasket, when he took off the cover he was like "damn that's clean" I asked him what he meant and he said "I open up some of these to change the rubber and they're black, yours is like new."
that is 5 years later with 62,396 miles on it as of this morning, just my input
