Help me figure out what turbo this is please.
The turbo has .60 AR stamped of the compressor side and .82AR stamped on the turbine housing. There are 11 blades on the turbine side and there are 7 blades on the compressor side. There is also a hole (a little bigger than a quarter) on the exhuast housing close to where the blades are. Exhaust is a 3 bolt flange and the compressor side says GARRETT. We are trying to figure how nasty the lag will be or what are the characteristics of this turbo. Thanks.
Sounds like a T04B compressor with a 0.82 A/R turbine
what motor is it for? street or track driven? does the motor have a higher redline?
more than likely the a/r is too big for you.
EDIT: actually now I'm thinking you might have a T04B...just saw that you said it had 7 blade.

I have a T04E and this turbo looks very similiar to it but with a larger AR on the turbine side. He doesnt want a whole lotta boost and is going for a cheap setup but he got this turbo cheap. Hes gonna keep his B18B stock as far as internals and probably will use a cast manifold. Does it sound aftermarket? Whats up with the 3 bolt flange? How much HP do you think this turbo will support and does anyone have an estimate of when it will spool?
his does have 7 blades on the compressor side. What would the trim be, or stage what wheel?

Well, the .82 A/R turbine housing will be laggy, but it will me a monster up top. Since it is on a B18B I would tell him to move on down to a .63 A/R turbine housing. The 3 bolt flange sounds as if there is an internal wastegate assembly on the turbine housing right now. If he is planning on running a Tial 35mm wastegate, that assembly shoudl come off with 5 bolts. I am comfuesed with the compressor. Can he get a caliper and measure up the outer diameter of the wheel along with the inner diameter? That is the only way we can see which wheel he has in that housing. It could also be a straight T3 rather than a T3/T04E.
What do u guys think about a .82 a/r on a 2.3l prelude?
= 0.63 typically get 8 PSI at 3600-3800 RPM on an H22 so you figure a 0.82 will be at 8 PSI at around 4500 maybe even higher on an H22/H23.
