which hatch is best???
Aight check it I am in the process of hopefully getting another car I am looking into buying a hatch preferrably 5th gen. Since all you guys seem to know your shiznit and I am still learning I would like some personal experiences and the dislikes and likes about your hatches. My plans are to keep it as stock as possible and to put in an engine swap like the B18C,1,5??? dunno yet or the JDM B18???
They are all the same, here is the general info.
CX and VX are lightest of the hatches. DX is a little bit heavier and Si is the heaviest (it also has a sunroof).
In 1992 ALL hatches were prewired for VTEC, after that only VX and Si as they both came with a version of VTEC. 95% of the people on this board have CX hatches, mostly because of the weight.
Hatches don't have any options like power steering, some don't have AC, or power door locks or windows.
I hope that helped.
Oh and to answer your question any B or D series engine is an easy swap.

It will come down to personal opinions but, if you like EK's then usaully you wouldnt mind owning an EG as well. At least I know I wouldnt

I have a 1992 VX....curbweight is just under 2100lbs. Doing a B18C w/ LSD sawp late this spring. One of my friends has a 99 hatch w/ the same swap. I like the looks of his car better, but the weight factor goes to me

well well... it all depends! if you want a nice comfortable ride. get a ek model... if you want to do more drag racing get a eg.. i have had both eg and ek i like the ek model because it seems like its more of a car when you drive it.. cant explain but i guess its all on what you like.. if you are going to go with a vtec motor i guess look for a vx hb all ready wired for vtec.. light model.. same as cx i believe but not wired for vtec.. plus it seems like everybody has eg 92-95 parts for sale. (exterior)
5th gen
CX/VX for all out racing, weight difference would be the factor for this model
DX only if its a killer deal to buy, other wise a waste
Si if ya still want luxury, power features....moonroof
IMO
