1997 accord ex smell
ok guys, I am a newbie and I got a accord ex 1997 a couple of months ago, and everytime I rev it high I smell like something is burning or is getting hot, but the temp needle is in the same place. Is this normal or is it something getting hot? If you have experience this before please help me find out what might be wrong. Any kind of help is much apprecieted. And thanks in advance....
Does it smell like burning oil or do you see sa light smoke from the hood. Sometimes the valve cover leaks a little and seems to get worse with higher oil pressure (higher revs). It drips on the exhaust manifold and burns off right away causing a burning smell. Just a thought...

COuld have something to with your Catalyic Converter on the exhaust.. Or it could be an internal problem in the engine. start off with a compression test. To further diagnose the problem do a wet compression test to see how well the rings are seating. if one or more cylinders are lower than the rest pour a teaspoon of oil in that cylinder and do the compression check. if the compression goes up, then your rings are shot. if it doesnt change at all then your valve guide seals may be toast. take note of the reading on the first crank during the compression test. that tells you how well your rings are seating. first and last readings are the most important. hope that helps. if not then your wrist pins may have scored your cylinder walls during high revs and high temperatures.

I'll probably need to get a diagnostic then, because my engine light is on.
What code does it have stored?
