Visual diff. between S1 JDM&USDM?

I may have the opportunity to buy another trans for my car.
I want the closed ratio JDM one.
So I really need info(Visual difference,etc) that could me think that I will buy the right one!
I've got a friend who has a S1....but this ain't a JDM....is ratio sucks compare to my J1 and the J1 is the same as the S1(Compare to popular believe).
Any help greatly appreciated!
