89 SI motor into EH2 hatch...searching proved futile
My dad wants to build a hybrid EH2 after the success my brother and my friend have had with theirs. He wants an H-series engine and a coworker is selling her well-maintained 1989 prelude SI for like $1500. Since the search function was being a grade-A beotch, I have some questions.
1.) which engine comes in the 89 'lude SI...H23, H-anything?, F-something?
2.) any rough specs hp/tq?
3.) is it a swap that has been done with any regularity? is it even possible?
I'm not looking for 10 people to say, "just get a newer H22!" because I already know that it's a better engine with more options and so does my dad. If we can get the 89 SI though, we can swap interior stuff, the motor (if it's worth it) and throw the civic engine in there and use it for a beater in the winter.
Thanks in advance, fellas. Sorry I know nothing about preludes

the 89 si has a b20a5 motor. 135 hp/125 tq. not a good motor for a hybrid unless you build it up and change all the internals. those motors are known to just blow up for no reason. if you are going to spend the time and money on a hybrid and want some real performance, go with an h series motor. that means 92-01. there is a lot of things that you would have to swap over to get the b20 motor into the civic. not worth it.
