Comprehensive Coverage (insurance related)
My car was parked in my own garage when a large heavy box fell from a shelf and gouged a 5" scratch on my trunk lid, just above my taillamps. I spoke to my insurance agent and she said that, because the damage was considered "comprehensive," my deductible would be $250.
I later spoke to a friend of mine whose mother accidentally closed the garage door on his car. When this happened, he told me that his incident was considered comprehensive as well. However, after he got it fixed through insurance and paying his deductible, the insurance company reimbursed him for the $500 deductible! Can someone tell me under what circumstances will the insurance company reimburse someone for deductibles? Also, what are my odds of that happening for me?
Thanks.

i believe the only way that the insurance company can re-embursed you with the deductable if you complaind that it was not your fault. i don't know what your friends mother told the insurance company, but what i think is that he said the garage door opener mulfunction which caused the door to go down. so which means it was not his fault, and that the insurance covers the whole thing. hmm, i mean i took PNC insurance, but never really heard how the company pays back for the deductable, unless it was not your fault, then the other company pays back for it.
