I was in an accident about two weeks ago, other persons fault. Can I request that they use OEM parts when fixing my car. I talked to the body shop guy and he said that that Insurance company requires them to estimate using used parts and aftermarket parts. Thanks

 

As far as the used parts go, I'm pretty sure they can only use parts your car's year or newer. I was in an accident about a few months ago and the used parts were OEM from a 99 and up Integra. I'm also pretty sure you can request new OEM parts. Sorry to hear about the accident and god luck with everything.

 

They will probably **** you over, you can probably just assume that you'll be getting aftermarket crash parts, at least that's what I can tell you from personal experience.

About a year and a half ago, when my rear end was totally ****** destroyed, I INSISTED that they use OEM parts, and the bodyshop/insurance people told me, blah blah, we have estimated the cost with aftermarket. I made a big shpiel about it but to no avail, they used aftermarket repair parts anyway. Not that it's really a big deal or anything, it just really pissed me off that some idiot in a ******* 20,000 ton truck can destroy my backend, put me out of a car for two weeks, hurt my back, AND make me have aftermarket crash parts on my car, plus a depreciated value...
