Wireless LAN for the ITR EXPO?
Imagine having a few monitors/laptops, etc, watching live lapping action as well as providing internet access (depending on an available land line).
At the very least a desktop unit running as a wireless router to share schedules, pics, and any other available information.
Just a thought. Ed

The We Todd's will have a wireless broadband connection, however, the bandwidth isn't really good enough to share it imo.. but we will be broadcasting live video from expo onto WTDR
!
Then I finally will have to get a cell phone on the right network!

Well it was a good thought Ed. Unless you or someone else can make it happen...
I can bring my wireless router. What we need is for it to run off Aspenny's Sprint PCS Wireles LAN card
I wil have my laptop. I will call the hotel and check on internet availability.

I have the ablity to connect my cell phone with my laptop and get internet service, never tired it yet, to cheap to get the chord. Also I have a wireless router if it's needed.
If some one has Broadband on Dish or DirecTV, they can just bring that and use it since it does not require a land line
didn't know DISH network or DirectTV offers internet access, but then, I have no reason to look into it.
George: 40kbps beats 1kbps wireless dialup
Why not just run a really long cat 5 cable and get some repeaters
I also can bring 2 wireless ready laptops if needed.
If the hotel has a decent broadband connection and the track is within line of sight (Point to point with NOTHING in the way, trees, hills, houses, buildings, etc) you can use the hotels broadband connection, a WAP on each end and some tin can waveguide antennas and you could make a wireless link. Being the midwest i don't think hills will be a problem. The most expensive piece is the WAP's. You could go as far as 10 miles as long as it's a clear shot from the hotel to the track. Obviously the top floor of the hotel (obviously the more floors on the hotel the better) and broadcasting it from the tower at the track is best. You want to be higher up to avoid anything getting in the way. That would be pretty badass.

Do you know what you're talking about? Not even a wired network can reached 10 miles.
