Default help with CEL....... must be my o2 sensor... but how do i know?

I did do search and found some good yet mis-informing info, thats why i still have to ask.

well as most people know my civic is just mainly in storage. But whenever i drive the car for about 5miles(after the car is warmed up) the check engine light comes on......BUT it doesn't seem to be hurting the motor at all.
*when i shut if off and RE-START the car the light is gone for about 2min then comes back on.
*is it my o2 sensor?
*how many do i have just 1 right?
*how to check for cel ? give me some steps please.

TIA

check your ecu and count the number of time the LED light blinks...1,2,3,4.....and so on...

underneath front passenger carpet/floor board is the ecu...put car in neutral, set parking brake, turn key to ON position without starting the motor and count the code on your ecu...Center of ecu has a small light hole that will flash if you have codes...count the number of flashes and repost. Example: long flash followed by 7 short ones is code 17. Good luck...

Thanks guys i will report back to you later tonight when i get home.

well...... will the ECU still blink EVEN if the check engine light is not on?
remember the light only comes on when car is fully warmed up.

*do i have to warm up car until CEL comes on then shut off and check for code?

ECU holds the code til you unplug or reset it...so it doesnt matter if the light is on your dash or not.

One blink is your O2 sensor. I just got that code the other day after my O2 sensore wire somehow was ripped out!
