How are CX/VX lighter than DX EG's??
Where did honda lose the 80 some pounds in the cx/vx from the dx model hatchback? Correct me if im wrong, but isnt the cx/vx about 2095lbs and the dx is about 2175lbs? If thats the case, what is different between the 2 models that saves that much weight? Im trying to get my dx down in weight a little more, thats the reason i ask. Thanks in advance.
no AC
no PS
no pass sidemirror
and I think they come with 13s unlike the DXs have 14s(correct me if Im wrong)
ummm.... Im sure Im leaving some lil. things out too.

My dx never had Power Steering either. My dx also came with 13's, which im pretty sure is normal. Im not being a smartass, but just still curious. With that in mind, there has to be more than just a pass. side mirror and no ac to make up that 80lb difference. Any other ideas guys? Thanks
My 92 vx w/ac had 9lb 13" wheels, no pass side mirror, no ps, no cargo cover, no clock.
My 94 vx w/ac has the same options as my old 92 but came with a pass side mirror and a pass side airbag.

depends what kind of options you get, thats all. For example, a have a dx hatch, which came with no pass side mirror, 13in steelies, ac, assisted power steering, and cloth interior.
I believe that CX/VX's have a thinner piece of floorboard material vs. DX's as well. This is similar to ITRs and HF CRXs as well. There is a double piece of floorboard on a DX/Si while the CX/VX only has 1.
Similar topics have been posted many times. But, I'll recap...The extra weight of the comes from a bunch of little **** that adds up. Yes, there is a little extra sound deadening material. But, it also has side moldings, adjustable steering column, door covers with side pockets, rear wiper, SLIGHTLY larger wheels. All that little **** adds up. If you got the automatic option on the DX then you got a really heavy pig, because the auto came with power steering. The auto tranny with power steering bumping the DX's weight to 2264.
A/C was an option on everything, so even a CX can be found with that. BTW, the CX got it's passenger side mirror after '92 or '93.

do you think it would be possible to remove one of the walls from the floor board to save weight, Im guessing that you could remove the sound deading material with that panel at the same time too. Maybe it could be cut out of the inside of the car?

If you are really that concerned about weight then just sell the DX and find a CX/VX. It would be a lot easier, and probably cheaper.
