ok i may be a newb... but how do i check my engine ->

i was wondering, how do i check the engine and the code... i have a regular stock 4th gen lude.. i just wanna find out if its a h231 or h22a , etc...

you Can look on your block right by the tans will tell you..... Look at the valve cover and if it says vtec then it's a vtec.....Or what Model car do you have and i could tell you

what does your tach redline at? (another way to tell)

i got lazy to go out into my car and look... i found this picture.. but ill look if that pics too blurry..

.... and yes i was driving on the freeway while having the camera in my hand.. LOL.. i dont know what the hell i was thinkin..

.. and notice all the dust on my dash, how embarressing..

It looks like it ends right after 6.

I would say h23

how long have you had your car?
did you not pay attention when you bought it?

Tell your model by the VIN.
JHMBB1xxxxxxx is a VTEC Prelude with the 2.2l DOHC VTEC.
JHMBB2xxxxxxx is an Si Prelude with the 2.3l DOHC non-VTEC
JHMBAsomethingxxx is the S model Prelude with a SOHC 2.2l

This your first Honda?

You can check the actual engine code by looking straight down from the distributor. There should be a rubber looking thing sticking out of the block, the code is stamped next to it.

Judging from the pic, you either have a Prelude S or Si. F22 or H23. If your motor says DOHC on it, then it's an H23a1. If it says SOHC, then it's an F22.

yes this is my first car, no i didnt pay attention to the engine, because it was my dad's car which he bought and gave to me.. but i check everything you guys said and i found out..

JHMBAsomethingxxx is the S model Prelude with a SOHC 2.2l

and the engine said H22A1
