are these in need of a rebuild like most of the dohc zc's? are the exhaust ports the same as an a6 or different like the dohc zc? cause i want to use my a6 header if I opt for this motor. what are the diffs between a6 and sohc zc? am I better off just rebuilding my a6? Thanx.

 

sohc zc has slightly more hp and tq than the d16 is what i hear. i have a sohc zc in my car and it doesn't feel any different than a d16 crx. and as far as the rebuild question you had, check the engine for yourself and see if it needs a rebuild. just because the sohc zc came from japan doesn't mean its been beaten to death and sitting in a rain soaked junkyard for the last 10 yrs like a lot of people believe the zc to be. i mean, sure its possible, but my point is that you should check the engine yourself instead of just immediatly rebuilding it.

my sohc zc feels like its got more power than the d16a6. But my a6 was running off one cylinder when i pulled it. If you plan to do some mods and the a6 is cheaper and not in shitty condition i say just get that...and the zc is the exact same thing as the d16a6 as far as bolting stufff to it, completely interchangable. my sohc zc came with a dual downpipe header also though, so you may wanna use that

Since my existing d16a6 has 180k+ miles, I want to know if it would be better to rebuild that (friend would for basically nothing), or get a sohc zc and rebuild that since supposedly it is a quicker motor---is the power noticeable?---what gives it the edge---bigger cam?---higher comp. ratio?--Thanx
