Default Carsound Cat + CEL Code 67 + Obnoxious Noise

I've got a DC JDM4-1 header, Carsound cat, and apexi N1 exhaust. A few days ago, I noticed a noise, a very loud rattle coming from the cat. I thought maybe it was the heat shield but it doesn't seem to be. It was extremely loud between 1500 and 2000 RPM's. Coincidentally(?), 2 days later my engine threw a code 67... Has the element gone out on the cat? It's only about 6 months old!! Is this a common problem with these cats? Thanks guys!
And how do I get rid of the CEL once the problem is fixed?

Looks like your cat bit the dust, by either first clogging and then getting loosened up inside the cat, or just simply became dislodged.

I guess the code 67 is a bad/non-functioning cat code?
Try resetting the ECU, but without a replacement cat it will probably come back.

Have you had any tuning issues...maybe running real rich?

Pull the cat and see if anything falls out. Mine bit the dust and got a chunk logged between the cat and b-pipe and blew out my S2000 donut gasket. Had to get a new one. Pull a chunk out bolted it back up and been working fine so far.

I wish companies would stop selling this cat because it's either obviously not working correctly/wrong type for our cars. No more b.s. excuses, I read all the threads about running rich, need for tunning blah blah. Stock Honda cats dont have this problem, and neither should a $185-200 carsound.

1000+ miles and i still havent thrown CEL 67 with my dc jdm 4-1, carsound cat and stock exhaust......

but i threw that code every 100 miles or so in my gsr. I had the exact setup, dc jdm 4-1, carsound cat, and apexi n1. Mine also rattled. And it still rattles in my R now. I figure its the heatshields.......

I installed my cat in Sept. and mine also started rattling around the same rpm so I checked it and it bit the dust also. The element inside also was loose from what I dont have any idea all I know is that i've had this cat on my car for like almost 4 months. All I have is a DC JDM 4-1 and a AEM Cold Air on my itr. I hear the same thing about running rich or whatever but isnt this supposed to be a high performance cat my car has'nt been running rich at all. Imwaiting for SMSP to get back to me on the warranty info now. These cats suck *** everyone has problems with them . I had to put my test pipe on for now. I intatant messeged SMSP a week ago and he hasnt responeded .If possiable I'd like to get a refund and try random technologies..

Its not just the carsound cat, I have a Catco 2.5 higflow and the same thing happened to mine. And I know my car is running rich, it shows on my bumper. Waiting til I get it tuned before I get a Carsound bolted up.

dude i have the same problem with my carsound cat, i've only had this cat for 4 months and yesterday i started the car and i hear this rattling sound coming from the cat. it rattles at around 1500-2k rpm. im not sure if its the heat sheild but i will look at it tommorow morning and see if its the cat. the sound is really annoying.

anyone ever experience this problem before, what other brands should i go for if i replace the cat?

carsound

The cat that Hytech uses with his custom header looks very nice. I think Renault makes it. Not sure.. Also not sure about the price, but seems to be expensive..

carsound
I think I've seen Dave SMSP explain this like 6 times now.. the car runs rich, and burns out the cat.. so either tune the fuel on your car, or expect to toast cats.. brand shouldn't make much difference..
