I need to make my 94 Prelude S faster. Should I turbo it, or do an H22 swap?
I want to make my 94 Prelude S faster. I have heard I could turbo it for about half the cost of an h22 swap. Is that true? How would the F22 do with boost? Reliability, power. Thanks.
If I was you, I'd hold off and save a little more money so I could do the H22 swap. It will leave more options open for you as far as modding goes because you'll only get so far with an F22.
you live in yorktown and drive an S? Ive got the champagne Si prelude i dunno if youve seen it. it got hit a week or two ago so theres a dent in the side.

My Prelude is white with some 18" RH M5's. I want to drop it, paint it and do something to the motor soon. My main car is a 97 ITR, built motor with a JRSC at 11psi and 75 shot NX. Thanks for the help. Maybe I will see you around.
Yeah go with the H22 swap. YOu are just lucky you have an easy decision between moding the "S" engine or h22 swap. That is a no brainer!!
but
I have been completing for months on whether to do an h22 swap or rebuild my h23 and turbo that bitch up! I have done months of research and the more I do the more I dont know which one I want. H22 or H23 TURBO
Anyways surely go with the H22 swap!

You could probably find a used F22 block for really cheap and build it up. Find out if a built F22 at XX amount of boost will be good enough for you. Or maybe you can even consider a built and turboed H23.
If you do plan on swapping in an H22 and turboing it keep this in mind: the stock H22 pistons have weak pistons. So you might be better off buying an H22, building it up (sleeves, pistons, rods) then dropping it in. Then at least when you start boosting you're engine will already be ready for it.
if u go turbo using stock internals then u should be a bit slower than a jdm h22 in a drag race but in less reliable setup, just go jdm h22 swap in yourself and save money
