Default check out these pics of a *REAL* block girdle (not the crappy girdles of old)

these are not full-race i just got the pic this morning and my jaw dropped. Full 5 main girdle, truly engineered, using COSMOS finite element, and all stress points minimized, etc etc. this thing is going in my oil pan as soon as i can get my hands on one.

edit: and it uses dowels too, has an option of a billet main seal and oil pump backing plate that attaches to the girdle also to beef up everything

You've been playing with Gary, again? Looks killer. Any mods to front and rear caps necessary? Probably have to modify the pan

That looks nice, but wait till you see ours. It's 1/2" steel and bolts to all 5 mains with arp studs and all around the oil pan. You put studs in the oil pan and it ties everything together. We should have them ready for sale around middle of this year.

After looking at this girdle I have to ask. Is The Z6 girdle a really strong factory girdle. I mean it looks pretty deisel to me even when compared to this one.

someone take me to school.

How much do you plan on selling it for?

Looks great , but is it necessary?

When would you need to put this piece on your LS engine....

300hp
400hp
500hp
600hp
700hp
800hp?

Just wondering if im not making enough power to utilize this piece....Or do you only use this on the street? Im just trying to find out why this is needed, has anyone found out that it is necessary? And what happened with and without the use of the girdle?

Im not being a smartass.....just we havent had any failure in our bottom ends ,cause we dont use the girdle...

Howard

I think I'll wait for this one. The Z10 wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

It's probably never "necessary". It will add a ton of rigidity to the block, but there aren't really any problems that i've seen without one. We made it as an extra precaution. Next year we plan to make over 1000hp and you never know what's gonna start moving around in there. There isn't a price on it yet, as we've got to see how far we can get it down when made in quantity. The ones made right now are pretty expensive since they are one offs. We are talking to the waterjet company and machinist right now to see about getting the price down. I'll keep you guys informed when I know more.

So what about line boring the mains with the girdle installed. What's your take on that, the z10 girdle designer posted on here that he strongly recommends it.

Also what are the main caps made out of steel or aluminum? I would think that if they are aluminum and you have to go to all the trouble to line bore why not just make new main caps out of steel instead of using a girdle. Isn't that what DART does?

Factory main caps are steel and they are not replaced with the girdle. The girdle will require the mains to be line bored with the arp studs. I've got a girdle at the shop, i'll take some pics tomorrow.

Actually, that's not the final design... that's an old prototype, Geoff is about 3 months behind

I think you'll all be very satisfied with the final design. We're preparing to make our first production run within 2 weeks. We'll be making these in-house so we are in direct control of production quality.

We prefer prototype candidates within driving distance. If you want to send us the motor, it's fine with us... but if it were mine, I wouldn't send it all the way to AZ just for a free block girdle

The pricing on these will be pretty reasonable (sub $500), and it's a modular design -- the block girdle is just one of the pieces in the entire setup. Each piece can be used individually or as a complete system, making this an affordable setup that meets everyone's needs. Given the affordability of the girdle, I wouldn't recommend sending us your engine.
