help with lower ball joints
can any shop replace lower ball joints or is this a hard job? I have been around to many shops here in town and no one seems to be able to do it. I F'd them up nicely yesterday trying to remove my cv/shafts and now needless to say they cant be used again. Who can press out the studs and put new ones in? Should i actually take these to a dealer????
I usually take my time and normally figure it out with out to much trouble.
I think the other shops just don't want to be troubled with helping you. I have hard time believing that any shop would not know how to remove a ball joint without damging it. More than likely, they don't see it as a profit worth their time. But, I'm only speculating this.

Yeah get the ball joint separator from jc whitney from the other thread: http://www.jcwhitney.com/item.jhtml?...=19652&BQ=jcw2
That's the one I have. Just put it on and turn the bolt w/ a big 1/2 drive ratchet and the ball joint will come out w/ a pop. Remember to keep the threads on the ball joint separator greased. The tool separates the ball joint cleanly and the boots come out intact. I once had a shop work on my car and they banged the hell out of my right ball joint or something cause now the ball joint treads are a bit messed up.
