Just changed fuel filter, got a couple of questions...
Well it took me longer than I thought cause I spilled some gas from the filter and decided to wash the firewall area really well. And putting things back was a lot tougher than removal for me, but anyways...
1. How the heck can you torque the bottom fuel feed bolt to spec? I just marked the bolt and filter so I could try and align them but I could not wrench it all the way for the marks to line up. i could still see the bottom last thread on the fuel feed bolt! I even used a pipe to gain leverage and managed to warp one side of the bolt
( which I realize would suck if it was entirely rounded as one would need to replace the entire line)
No leaking was evident when I started it up though. I guess I'll find out when I go driving if I messed up or not
2. The filter kit came with 2 big washers and a small one, did anyone on a later model teg use the smaller one? There is no mention of it in my 98 Helms though Carland Acura's diagram has it placed on the bottom of the filter. Using the washer would've probably made the situation above worst...
TIA

1. Well I'm pretty **** about torquing things to spec but since I couldn't get my
t. wrench to that nut I just tightened it until it felt snug. Besides I thing the specs said somewhere around 20 ft-lbs (off the top of my head, will check helms later) which I'm sure I surpassed. Which is ok because as long as it doesn't leak you should be good to go. The only downside of not torquing is if you tighten it too much (like the person who installed the FF before me) it makes it a PITA to loosen the nut next time.
2. I used all the washers that came but I have a 94.

I *think* it's for the service bolt ( smaller bolt piggie back off top bolt). Don't quote me on this, it's soo long ago.

I didn't torque mine either because thats not something I could use my torque wrench on.. I just tightened it until it felt tight and when I was done started my car and checke for leaks.. its had none for the 15-20K that I've done it so I guess its OK.. as for the washers I bought a purolator kit and I just remember there being washers for the top banjo bolt...
as long as its not leaking you should be OK..

the washers go between the banjo bolt and bolt... and the fuel filter and banjo bolt. as long as its tight and snug.. and doesnt leak!... youll be fine with tightened that way. you can always use teflon tape to prevent any leaks.
torquing ff bolt? c'mon. you only need to torque internal engine parts to spec. and the small washer is for the service bolt.

sorry if this is off topic, but what mile interval do you change your fuel filter? Ive pretty much changed mine each year after driving about 10k each.
