what is acura's recommended service replacement of the ignition coil?

There is none. Replace it only if it fails.

haha, if it has failed, then i'm stuck without a working car. i'm doing maintanence to avoid a screwed up day.

what is the average expected lifetime of this part?

Most last at least 150k miles.
