Toda Spec A camshats.......
Hey boys 'n girls, have been viewing everything that came up in a search an still got so,e questions. Do these respond well with a higher redline, and if so, how high do these things go to make optimal power? Would anyone reccomend the Spec B's over these, and any idea if they make more peak whp than skunk2 Stage I's ? Sorry for not having an ITR, but a 99 SI, but the ITR guys seem to be the only ones who go with Toda. Thanks.
Ok, spec a's would be ok with stock redline... most people raise the rev limiter to 9k or 9200 with stock cams or even spec a's so they can stay in the gear a little longer... peak power will depend on the other mods and tuning.
I'd recommend spec b's or spec c's over these if you were raising your compression and also wanted more midrange... More peak than skunk2 stage 1's? I doubt it looking at the specs, but then again this depends on mods and tuning.
What is it YOU are trying to accomplish?

Well, I'd like to bring in some good dyno numbers, but i've never really been a fan of peaky power curves.....and considering I drive a honda ill be stuck with that regardless. I dont have any one type of racing i'd like to pursue; but just an all around well trimmed car. Would it be bad to go for Spec B's with stock compression on a B16A2 ?
If you wanna stay with a stock bottom end and valve train....toda A's are your best bet. Its not really worth getting Toda B's unless you are running higher compression, the A's will be more reliable too.
get skunk2 stage 1's, the price is right and I can guarantee you will be more than satisfied. They build excellent power, do a search you will find a host of members making 200whp with these cams...I have a set of skunk2 stage 1 for sale if your interested email me at maryonelia@hotmail.com, I no longer will be using them as I plan to fully build my motor 4 drag...hope this helps
I addition you can run the stage 1's with your factory valvetrain so you wont have to upgrade, valves, valve springs, and you dont have to upgrade retianers either so long as your not revving beyond your motors capabilities...

Well, I've had Skunk2 Stage I on order since november but just cancelled the order because the seller was giving me the run-around. I've been contemplating Toda for some time now, and lets just say I've got my mind set on them.
Ok, lets say my only bottom end modifications are a thinner headgasket, would you do the B's or A's ?

I would go A's...in order for your motor to fully employ the benefits of the toda spec b's you undoubtedly need to do much more to your motor as it sounds like your virtually have a stock b16, #1 you need COMPRESSION and lots of other valvetrain components (valves, valve springs, and ti retainers) just to run spec B's without getting yourself into a heap of trouble. I strongly recommend you go with the skunk2 stage 1 or Toda Spec A...good luck
splat ran spec b's on stock comp, valvetrain, and ecu (with yack tuned VAFC) with no problems. supposedly had killer midrange, and didnt cost him $2700 or whatever

I'd recommend spec A's in this case.
Pat was another case of no valve springs... but I wouldn't do what he did for long... you're inviting disaster...
