My friend can get me a set of 205/45/zr16 Hankook Ventus k102 tires ( http://www.hankooktireusa.com/ventus/k102/index.html ) for 350 mounted and balanced. Now, what should I do next? I guess a header would be the next thing on the agenda to take care of, but what kind should I get? The same friend can get a dc sports 4-1 header (2.25" collector) for about 300, but the local Topspeed dealer gets their gsr header (2.0" collector) for 250. Should I just dish out the extra 50 bucks for the dc sports? or should I go all out for the comptech? I'm not looking for prodigious power, just something that'll let the teg breathe a little better. Thanks for the help. Happy New Year ^_^ and be safe
Well if you are not planning on modding for huge amounts of horsepower than it boils down to what you plan on doing w/ the exhaust. If you go with either header from Comptech or the one from the Topspeed dealer both are going to be 2.0" which is going to bolt right onto your stock cat and exhaust.
The 2.25" DC, you have two options. The first is that will need to modify the 2.25" collector to fit the 2" stock cat and that would defeat the whole purpose of getting the larger collector. So nix that plan
.
The second option would be to get a higher flowing cat along w/ a new cat back of at least 2.25 or larger. This would probably be the best in terms of the car breathing better but would obviously take a little more work. Don't waste your time installing the DC just half *** by just changing the cat and not the catback because you will create a bottleneck which will reduce exhaust efficiency. But if you take the time to do it right them you should be more than satisfied w/ this set up.
