alright tired of getting picked on for being the 'slow' car around
ok well as u know i have a 90 honda civic hb std..yeah the one with only 60 hp...whohoo...and i have decided i dont care what the car looks like on the outside i want some 'go'. so i was wondering what r u guys recommendations on engines...i know i dont have alot of money so im looking for best bang for the buck . i dont know if i should just go to a junk yard and rip a 92-95 civic motor out and wire that in or if i should go witha zc...i do know i want to stay d-series. thanks alot for your time and your opinions.

rich, you will be such a fly white guy when you do your swap,,,no more physcological abuse by your fellow car buddies, you will no longer be slow rich, but fast rich,,, im excited already,.....go with a jaguar 12cylinder motor, that'll fit right?,, better consult a jag. dealer,,,if that dosent work i think you should do a zc swap, wayyyy cheaper than b16 power, but will still give your car alot of go....oh yea, and kims mad at asley, they arent friends now.....later buddy.
p.s. ive had a few tonight....

Cut and splice from a previous post I did on the subject:
parts needed:
I recomend getting all of these parts from an 88-91 civic EX or Si, or CRX Si (I've been told that the CRX Intake manifold doesn't flow as well, never saw proof though) There are some other options, but for simplicity, it's best to get it all from one of these. also, If you have a manual trans, get the parts from a manual trans donor car (and auto for auto) I got my parts off of Ebay, a couple of broken sensors and bad parts cost me in the long run.
1. Intake manifold with Injectors, Throtle body, and all sensors intact (Any D-series MPFI intake mani. will work, I'm told the D16Y8 has the best airflow, but the Injectors have to be 88-91)
2. Injector resistor box
3. ECU
4. Distributor (the EX/Si dizzy has an extra sensor in it that you will need)
5. engine wire harness (you'll need to steal some plugs off of this)
6. New intake manifold gasket (if the TB or any sensor gets removed, it will need a new gasket as well)
7. New Injector seals (If the new intake mani has been sitting for a period of time, the old seals will probably be dried out and leak)
8. New Cap and rotor (if you recently replaced yours, the cap, rotor, coil, and Ignitor from your old distributor will all fit the new one)
The swap is easy to do, an experianced mechanic could knock it out in less than a day. Be prepared to have your car down for a week just in case there's some bugs to work out though. You never know when you're using used parts, don't get stranded!!
The mechanical stuff is pretty basic, especially if you have a Helms manual. (I did it with a Haynes manual because I'm too cheap to buy a Helms) The only thing I can say is make sure everything is clean and seals properly. When I did the swap on my car, The bracket that holds the back of the manifold up was bent, it was pushing up on the back of the mani and it wasn't allowing the gasket to seal properly. I also had problems with my injector seals leaking and the distributor had a bad ignitor.
The part where most people struggle is the wiring, your current setup only has wires for 2 injectors, you'll need to run wires for 2 more. Also, you need to run wires for that new sensor in the distributor I mentioned above. the best write up I've seen on this is:

When I did my swap, I did all of the wiring with NO splices under the hood. Everything looks completely factory. I Just wish I took pictures of the process.

i've got an HF manifold with a Saab T3 bolted on with custom adapter plate, 1G DSM side mount intercooler, DSM blow-off valve, hard oil lines with T3 fittings, misc. fittings and lines.
all that's needed to complete are the charge (intercooler) lines, and fuel management (safc).
everything's in great condition. i can provide pics as well...

Save for a B16.
the D series has many options.
Go with a cheap d16a6 swap with Si trans. we have several cams that are available for that motor depending on what you want out of yout engine.
contact me through email and i'll be glad to guide you to the most efficient d16a6 setup-budget too.
a lot of people ask me how we can get the d series to run so well. I say its alot in the cam we use but its also in the Intake, header and Exhaust choices that you make. sounds too simple? well it can be, but if you buy the wrong exhaust, your'e just wasting your money.
we had a customer who just the I/H/E and installed our cam. it picked up so well he said but i knew it wasnt to its optimum. so i said, before you do anything, redo your exhaust piping to the specs we recommended. while an exhaust is so simple to do, what he did was had a regular crush bend piping done to a 2 1/4 inch piping.
I told him to change it to a mandrel welded piping and it made much better difference throughout the powerband.
