pulling transmission
I am pulling the tranny for the first time to replace the clutch. I am a newbie to transmission removal, so I am following the book as close as I can. The helms manual is asking for removal of all driveshafts - Right, left, and intermediate. Do you need to remove all of these or can you get by removing only the right? Also, it is asking for you to use a certan size flathead screwdriver to pry off the inboard joint, but I am having trouble removing it. Any suggestions? I keep wanting to reach for the big hammer. Perhaps something else needs to be loosened bofore the inboard joint can be removed?
I welcome any advice from folks who have opened up their trannys.
Thanks
Dave

I am leaving the flywheel alone (if it passes a micrometer check). I am replacing the clutch and bearings. I seem to have maybe damaged some of the threads on the lower ball joints, so perhaps they will be replaced as well. I am in the process of removing the left castle nut now - I seemed to have knocked it a bit opening up the joint - preventing it from being easily removed (did the same on the right). Probably a good idea to replace the joints anyway - 62k miles autocrossing every season. I have a mysterious knock (or creak) sometimes when turning very slow and tight that replacing the joints might cure.
