Yea, look in the lower right corner of this pic...

...see that yellowish/brownish tag with the bar code? That is the label on my tranny. Although in your case...they will both say "S1", but you might be able to take the serial number to Acura and see it they can tell you what car it came in. If they do not have the number, then it might be JDM cause it wouldnt be in there system.

:shrugs:

There was no USDM S1 tranny only Japanese ones
The only labels on cable trannys are the lil stickers on the front of them from what i know

If u have a real S1 the gears should be very short

I think it is , cause ive looked all over for sychros kits and no one has them , u can only get them from Japan

The only b series cable trannys ive seen are the Ys1, A1, and the J1

As far as I know there is no US J1. The 90-91 teg in the US came with an A1, Y1, or S1, all of which had the same gearing. The B16 cable units are J1, S1, and Y1, with J1 and S1 being geared the same. All the 92-93 tegs came with YS1s, GSR included but the gearing was different. The only way to tell the trannies apart from the outside is by turning the input shaft and seeing how many times the diff rotates and knowing what gear you are in. Use this formula:
# of input shaft rotation / gear ratio / final drive ratio = number of diff rotations
