sorta OT: Why are used ITR prices jacked up so much?
Everywhere you look, if there is a dealer selling a used ITR, the price is either just about the same as Brand new, or in many cases, its even more than when it was brand new. I cant really think of any other car out there right now that the same thing occurs. There is a PY ITR for sale at a dealer near me, and they want $23,995. Only 1K less than brand new, and the car has over 20K miles on it.
Why does this only happen to the ITR and no other(or not many other) cars out on the market?? Its just weird that it only seems to happen with the ITR. :shrugs:

Supply and demand
Exactly
Exactly
all I know is that when I look at what I owe on my R, and what it's worth, it puts a big fat
on my face, lol
There's an 18,000 mile 2001 ITR (don't remember which color, sorry) in my area that is selling for $28,000!?! Obviously this is at a dealership. Very sad.

The key word here is value . You see no other car in recent history has offered what the ITR offered for the reasonable $24K asking price. Combine that with the recent cult-like honda popularity and you have one very desireable specialty car.
Buick Grand Nationals owners still experience this to this day and their cars are 15 years old! I should know, I sold a 39k mile GN last year for a whopping $14.5K...

One simple answer........Dealership is rip-off animals, they always try to mark-up the price whenever they think the demand is there
I guess the "only" positive things for this (sky high resale price) is to show to our insurance company how valueable is our car ( when it's come to total loss settlement
)

I guess it helps to keep some of the young stunnaz out of the ITR as well since they arent exactly cheap. unless their mommy and daddy buy it for them
As more ITR's get swallowed into the belly of the beast (theft & total loss collisions) their value will continue to stay high. Plain and simple, many naysayers talk crap about ITR's not being collectible.
But thus far ITR's EXCEED the criteria for whats considered a "collectible" car. If people are still getting $15K to $50K (GNX) for 15 year old Regals, I cant see why ITR's which are officially an endangered species won't hold their value.

Gotta look hard!! I got my 97' w/ 37,000 miles 3 months ago for $15,000
And no there was nothing wrong with it
I was super lucky.
*Title was clean
*no accidents
*stock - never modified
*never raced or auto-xed
*Owned by a 41 yr. old w/ 2 kids.
*never winter driven
*runs like a champ
And on top of that it was in damn good shape and just needed a good claybar job on the paint
Larkin who found his by looking at newspapers at Border's from other cities!!

Supply & demand works both ways, too.
In Atlanta, used ITRs were selling above MSRP, and new ones were on a waiting list. But I got mine for (slightly) under MSRP, BRAND NEW, because the dealer here in the college town of Athens, GA couldn't sell it. He said he'd had a hundred different students come in and try to buy it, who could afford the car, but then couldn't swing the insurance on an ITR for an 18 year-old single male...
That's the only time I've been glad to be 30
