Basically, how can you tell if recaro seats are actually real recaro seats and not just some cheap knock off with recaro logo stitched on there or something?

 

Believe me, you will know. The construction quality of Recaro is legendary. They are built like Sherman tanks (and weigh about as much ).

if you're buying seats from someone so unreputable that you suspect fakes, maybe you shouldn't buy them!?

 

there should be a recaro serial # underneathe the seats. also in the plastic part that pulls the seat up from behind recaro should be imprinted in the plastic. hope that helps.

Only way I can think of is the unique fabric that is also used in the stock ITR seats. The MESH material, combined with the alcantara, it's awesome.

Most knock off or USDM recaros are plain cloth with no alcantara/mesh...

 

... and that's a bad thing because they're not JDM y0?!

LOL! I have SRDs and bought them for the bolstering not car shows. Material isn't as nice Alcantara but I can live with it.

 

the tweed mesh in the center really helps you stick to the seat. I have sat in srd's and the cloth is too slippery IMO

 

How do you slide around in those thigh bolsters?! You should not move unless you are SO skinny, you have an inch between the bolsters. I just like the extra width and seat bottom length in the SRDs. The JDMs just felt too small for me.

 

I'm taking offense if you are implying that I got my JDM recaros for car shows... yeah of course it's JDM bling, but the facts still stand, it hugs a little better than the USDM ones

I weigh in at ~130 so the JDM seats fit perfect You sir, must have a rather large ***. Don't be ashamed though it's all good

Nah, I'm just implying that some people do buy them for impressing their friends. Large ***? Eh, no, 33" waist here. JDMs are just made for midgets. No, seriously, Ive sat in 3 sets of JDMs and like I said the seat bottoms are too short for us tall *** honkays and just a tad too narrow. Funny thing though, Albert (mugen76) sat in my SRDs and said the rib bolsters were tighter than his JDMs, but mine are too new so I'm thinking his are a little more 'broken in'.

 

I thought the bolsters were adjustable? Also what's your height and weight?

What would you guys say the going rate for JDM and USDM SRD's go for in black? I understand red is more valuable, but screw red, too much attention.

Do SRD's have a lower seating position than stock? If so, the more the reason for me to get one/a pair!

 

Actually, blacks go for more than the red ones do. Yellows are even more expensive than the blacks, if you could find them.

6'1" 180 lbs. No, not adjustable.

Depends on what brackets you get. I have Wedge Engeneering brackets and the lowest setting is almost identical to stock (may be slightly higher). Vision brackets I have be told to go much lower.
