maybe the C5 blew up..or he sold the C5 block?
who cares.....if it is C1/C5....I guess the more important question is what kind of internals is the car now running?

How do you know its a C1? Looks like a C5 with a STR intake manifold.
The upper radiator hose goes into the head below the vtec solenoid vs. the b16/ITR where it goes in below the dist.

I know that car. The owner sold the B18C5, it is a B18C1 in the car now the internals are all built with forged pistons and rods, but stock sleves. He runs 15 PSI on the street
, and the car makes about 350 HP at the wheels.
The owner is a regular at the ITR meets in Toronto

Depends on tuning and maintenance. Gato from Bellotech (ever hear of Eddie Bello?) has a '98 ITR with almost two years running 15 psi on a C5 w/ Eagle rods/JE pistons/stock sleeves. 350+ whp and plenty of wins under its belt. Why so pesimistic Steve?
2 years? how many miles is that?
how does he drive?
those factors make a difference. especially if that car just sees races

Daily driver to and from work and all over NYC. Sunoco 94 pump gas all day long
Drives like a savage! 15-20 second rev limiter burnouts, powershifts etc. And he romps on every and any car he can. Even broke a timing belt a while back and surprisingly enough, no damage!
