Everytime I am drive my car on the highway, after it warms up, and I hit over 4,000 rpms the tachometer goes crazy. It jumps from 4,000 sporadically down to 3,000 then to 3,500 then to 2,500. When I remove my foot from the gas it stabilizes. And it is fine below ~4,000 rpms. Also when the engine is cold, it runs fine.
What the heck is it, can anyone help???

Thats "usually" a good sign that the igniter is starting to fail... next would be the coil if the igniter checks out OK.

 

Thanks for all the input, I am gonna take my distributor apart and put some dielectric grease on the ignitor and check all the connections, hopefully this will fix it
