How do you remove 97 leather shift knob from boot?
I have searched, but cannot find anything on removing it. There are obviously two tabs on the shift ****(at 12 and 6 o'clock?) that go into the silver ring, which holds the leather shift boot. Do I turn the metal ring or do I push those tabs in somehow? If anyone is courious, there are some pictures of the 97-98 **** and metal ring in this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=280094
I already have the all the interior pirces out, just need to take the **** off so I can replace it and the boot. I played with it for a while, but I did not want to do it incorrectly and break it!
Thanks!

The chrome plastic ring snaps down. Just push it firmly and it'll separate from the base of the shift ****. The shift **** unscrews. Rotate it counter-clock-wise to unscrew it.
i hate my freakin shift **** but the bootleg '00-'01 itr shift **** doesnt fit right
