Showa vs. Nippon Denso vs. Generic Radiator
I have a 94 Integra LS. Can these radiators be interchanged? I took the car to a local shop and the man said that If I have a Nippon radiator, I have to have it replaced with a Nippon radiator. And if I have a Showa, it has to be replaced with a Showa. The Showa radiator he said is about $450, which is about $200 more than the Nippon Denso radiator. I think I have a Showa one in there now. He said he can try to use a Nippon Denso radiator, but is not sure if it will "fit"? Aren't they all the same? What about the generic being all metal compared to OEM metal with plastic end tanks? Maybe I should just go generic?
They can be interchanged as long as you change the fans with them. If you have the nippondenso radiator, you cannot just swap the showa and drop in the fans from the nippondenso or vice versa. The mounts for the fans are different. But Im sure you can be creative and make it work. That is why LS and GSR radiators are made by two different companies.
BTW LS have Nippondensos and GSR's have showas.
I hope I answered your question

Not to smote a dead horse, but I checked tonight and I have a Showa in my 94 LS. There is a little name plate on the top right of the radiator. I wonder if the early DC2s had Showas and then they moved to Nippondenso in the non-vtec models?
Anyone else have a 94 LS with a Showa? or is yours a Nippondenso?
Mine's an automatic also, don't know if that makes a difference.

That I have not confirmed. I do have a 95 SE (LS) manual. Most of the LS I have worked on had Nippondensos. The showas by comparison seems to be of a higher quality and finish. cheers
