HID Headlight Conversion
I'm planning on doing a HID conversion on my civic. I was wondering how hard is the installation? Do I have to make any modifications to anything or cut any wires? I dont wanna have to cut into my wires. Also, which kit has the more blue looking bulb, and which do you recommend? I was thinking about the CATZ kit.
You don't have to cut any wires with an H.I.D. installation. This of course depends on the kit you're getting. If it's plug and play you'll be up and running in several minutes. The part that's tricky is just deciding where you want to mount your ballasts etc.
The more color or "bluer/purpler" will depend on the kelvin degrees the bulb color temperature is. I.E. 4300k, 5000k 6000k. You sound like you'd want some color and brightness with your H.I.D.'s so I'd suggest a 5000k Mcculloch kit. This way you retain good brightness and have some color as well. Something you're interested in as it seems. My friend has this kit in his Civic and it looks very OEM/blueish from afar, and the color projected on the ground looks very bright and white as well.
OEM H.I.D. is at 4300k. But since it's going to be in your Civic headlights, it won't have that blue color too much. Also be aware that the OEM Civic headlight housings aren't very good for H.I.D. Your beam pattern will be very poopie-like.
Good luck.

autolamps-online has an H4 kit with a nice shield that blocks out all the yellow that the 4300K bulbs reflect downward, meaning your HID will appear as blue, if not more blue, than the Lexus, Acura, and other reflectour housing HID cars.. if i were you, i would ONLY buy 4300K HID .. all the other kits look fake and the light output on the road is violet colored.. or even super blue..
but yeah.. check out that autolamps H4 kit w/ glare shield.. its good quality, plus u wont be blinding anyone.. its as close to OEM you're gonna get..

well my lil brother talked a lot about HIDs, because he is debated if he still wants it or not. MOST kits are plug and play no cutting no nuttin. make sure u get a good quality kit and not some cheap ****, the less u pay the shittier it will be, so dont be cheap. almost all kits make the blue looking tint along with white, and purple kits. you want a kit that has a temp of K above 5100K. anythign above that will be blue, around 5100K will be blue/white. my brother always said that the McCulloch kits are the best, since they have their own ballast and has longer wires to make it more easy for you. most kits have other companies supply the ballast. Hella and Phillips do not make kits, they only supply the ballast.
actually, McCollogh doesnt make their own kits either. I believe they combine Philips ballasts to something else.
Catz uses Matsushita ballasts and igniters. Their quality is unmatched IMO.
I think Catz is the only company though with a dual H4 kit which moves the actual bulb and not the shield....
