diff btween base and S?
hey guys, i was just wondering what is the mechanical differences between the base rsx and the S model performance wise? like from 160 hp to 200 hp, thanks alot, i really appreciate any response.
The difference mostly is in the valvetrain. Basically with out getting technical as hell the vtec has a more powerful stage in the s. Both cams engage in vtec opening the valves more to produce more power. I think in the base the the intake cam does most of the vtec work.
thanks for the reply, i really appreciate it, so can is vtec controller change a base rsx to the have the same power as a TypeS, well with some work done to the intake as previously mentioned?
No a vtec controler like the apex vafc will not even with ivtec. The valvetrain itself is just different between the two. When vtec engages the cams a pushed and the lobe on the cam with the longest duration is used to keep the valve open longer to inject a larger air fuel mixture (intake side) and push out the larger amount of combustion faster (exhaust side). On the s model the exhaust side just works better to get more power throughout the RPM range. Sorry about getting so technical
