Default intake backwards?

i bought a short air intake
for my 94 accord and the pipe lays backwards so the little intake holes (i dont know what theyre for) that are usually close to the engine are next to my battery i bought a longer hose so it reaches to the holes on the intake....my engine sounds great actually with no exhaust the sound was impressive and the performance is fine...ive never seen an intake installed like this and was wondering is this making me lose power or does it matter? oh yeah and can you tell me what the holes are for on the pipe? Some have two some have one ive checked on howstuffworks.com and a couple of other places anyways your help would be appreciated!

Well, you could just say :If it works, run with it, but form the sound of it they gave you teh wrong model of short intake. ANd I assume that you have tried installing it with the holes twoard the engine right? What they are for is emissions. Oil gases from the head are put back through the system and burnt, helping cut down emissions, and sometimes giving you better efficiency. On my accord, only one is going from the head to the intake tube, and the other to the intake manifold from the pcv valve. My guess is that you should not have two, and one can be pluged easily.

So, if you dont mind the tube going around to the other side, enjoy the intake.

cheers

yeah it seems to run great and I was frusturated when i saw that it wasnt fitting correctly then when i turned it around the fit was flawless like it was meant to be like that.....so i went along with it. I do have two emission holes on my intake with one plugged. but i guess its ok....you think those emissions being taken in right next to the filter will make a diffrence? because being backwards the filter is right next to the emissions instead of the engine....
