Well for the past week or so my rear drivers side brakes have been making a scraping or grinding noise when i am stopping. It doesnt always do it...id say itll make the noise 35% of the time. Its a really annoying noise and its really starting to **** me off. I dont know jack about drum brakes thats why im asking you guys. What is making this noise and how do i fix it? Im going to tear it all apart tomorrow to see if i can see what the deal is...is there anything that i should know before i dive into this project? I dont want any springs or anything popping out and hitting me in the eye or anything. I hope that it is something that is CHEAP thatll last me til i get the rear brake conversion. Thanks alot.

Is this easy to fix? Are there any tips you can give me to help me with this? The big question is how much is it going to be? How much will the rear brake conversoin from a teg cost too...if it isnt too much more i might just go ahead and do that. Thanks.

It will be cheaper and quicker to repair/replace your drum brakes. Pull off your drums and take them to shop to have them turned. Replace shoes and any needed hardware (springs, retainers etc) Use your helms, it will show you the way. Be sure to lube the adjusters with moly grease when you replace them and screw them all the way together.

about a month ago i was in the same position, i went and bought brand new drums, shoes, hardware, and cylinders---just get a haynes manual, follow the steps--once u do it once its easy after that and there are shortcuts----one would be do not remove the ebrake cable from the shoe, just pop the whole arm thing off---anyways after install rebleed and bed the shoes and itll be a world of difference...if u did it right. if u opt to just have your existing rotors turned, all this stuff should be cheap---shoes-20, cylinders-13each, hardware-13.
