Default Lighter STUCK! Help!

My friend was riding in my R and I asked him to plug in my cellphone with the car chager. He took out the lighter and somehow managed to get it inside the ashtray and get it to close. Now the damn thing wont open!

Funny how I tried this before and I could not get it to fit. I think he took the whole thing out, put the lighter in and then closed it friend

How the hell do I get this out?

Your guys are a bunch of dicks. The man is asking a simple question and he doesn't need your wise *** comments.

I'd use a blowtorch dood. Works like a charm.

Yeah you need to shake and rattle and whole tray a little to shift the contents a bit, the problem is the metal flap that hangs over the edge, it's stopping your from pulling the tray out, I had a few things stuck in there sometimes.

Can you get into the tray from the back or the side maybe? Or can the plastic cubby above it be removed? Can the rails for the tray be loosened somehow?

I've never had the Integra dash apart, so I don't know the answers -- it's just what I'd try to do. My tray felt normal until the dealer replaced the stereo a couple years back (the CD player was getting fussy, so they just swapped it). After that the tray was really loose feeling; I've wondered if something broke or if the rails aren't in correctly now. Or it may mean that it's a pain to get the whole thing apart and they broke it in the process... So it's loose, but at least it's tight enough that it stays in place -- it doesn't pop out under acceleration or anything like the glovebox used to do...

yeah either light it on fire, or use a small flat bladed screw driver to push down the 'lid' of the ashtray, should do the trick

What your gonna have to use is an air chisel. Rack it up to like 150psi and go at it. I did this to my itr because he tray wouldnt open, Then i realized that I was pushing not pulling. Window stopped workin so I air chiseled that open too. Oh well, People learn.

You may try parking on a hill so that the lighter rolls toward the back of the ashtray, or the front.

Just an idea to try before breaking out the blowtorch.

Well thanx alot for some of the ideas, I took the most sensible one and used a flathead to hold the metal plate to get it open and it worked. I dont mind the people who were ******* around because I expect it from some people. Thanx for the people who helped and the people who flamed, ohh well... there always are the people who do that on the forums.

Also, just for the rest of the people who read this, I am going to be starting an elaborate website for the Integra Type R. I have many projects that (on ITRs and other imports) that will be available. I will keep everyone posted when I find a worthy webhosting company again. This is just a little sneak peak of info for the few that read this

Peace!
