Spoon dampers vs Apexi N1 dampers
I never seen Spoon coilovers until now, and i couldnt believe it, but i still have not driven on any kind of full coilover dampers, but i know everyone likes the n1 dampers since their all around. does anyone have any experience with spoon's and how it would compare to N1's ?
or are the spoons just full race are they even adjustable ride feel ?
thanks.

Spoon dampers....IMO is one of the best setup for street and track. I have driven them and love them over Apexi. Apexi is too harsh and I don't like bumpy feel (but I used to). If I'm gonna get a Honda again , I definitely will get Spoon coil-overs.
IMO, there is NO COMPARISON between Spoon coilovers and Apexi N1. Spoon is FAR better. The dampening and smoothness of the Spoon coilovers is unbelievable.
On that note, I haven't... but own a set of Apex N1's. I like them, but they could be a little stiffer on the springs.

The Apex N1s feel unrefined in comparison.
I didn't try the SPOON N1 damper kits yet. But I did try APEXi N1 dampers. Umm they're ok. Kinda soft(my friend is running below 10K in front, and that's a EK SiR sedan)....I'm agreed with what Spikey said. I think APEXi N1 is only at the ZEAL B6/TEIN RA's level.
I did try the SPOON street damper kit with Kg/mm DR21 springs both street and auto-x. All I can say is amazing. I like them sooooo much.

Just curious if you've experienced both sets.

we're very lucky in Vancouver @ A&J.
get to try so many things
Just curious- but not all of the Spoon Dampers are height adjustable are they? I didn't know if all of them are, so if someone could enlighten me on the different levels available, I really don't know much about these.....
chameleon- just mentioning this because I remember in the last thread you had discussed wanting to drop your car enough to eliminate gap, and liked the Apex'i N1's due to being able to adjust height without sacrificing stroke of the damper.

i have a chance to get some spoon dampers, and apexi dampers, just that the spoons are more rare, and wanted to make sure i make a right descision to not pass them up. oh yeah and im a sp00n wh0re anyways.. the ones im looking at are definitely ride height adjustable and i think are ride feel as well ..
i dont want to pass em up since their rare as hell to me.

The SPOON N1 dampers are pretty short stroked. So even your leave it up high it's still pretty damn low.
For ride quality u really won't regret.

Get the Apex N1s or something similar (a coilover that can adjust ride height independent of preload), since you want to slam your car to the ground.
Honestly though, GC's and some Konis would be fine for your purposes and cost a lot less also.
i dont auto-x yet, but i plan to and try new things, so im looking for suspension that can do it all. right now i have season tires since its snows here and all that. come spring then i can switch to better tires and take advantage of the susp further.
Don't you need Spoon parts to be a Spoon *****? JFWY

I might be one of the few who has had both sets on my car at one point in time.
what I like about the Apex-i.
Their aluminum construction and their full range of adjustability.....
from dampening to stroke.
I find that they ride very well with their "stock" spring rates if you set them up properly. Zero preload and leave their dampening level at 1.
I like their little features that matter on the street like dust boots, and that they do a great job all around. I haven't tried them with higher rates, but I suspect they won't do as well as the Showas I've had.
What I like about the Showas:
They ride awesome even with the 16/14 rates that I had briefly on the street. Their no nonsense dampening settings ....5 way instead of the Apex-i which are like what? 16? or something?
I spoke to Ichishima-San about setting them up for the street and he addressed my worries about the low ride height.
I don't like how they ride low because of their super short stroke...but I know how to fix that now. I also don't like the fact they don't come with dustboots....but you can't have everything now can you?
on lower rates.. 10/8...they ride like butter.... still the absolute best that I have tried to date over the ZEAL B6 that I had before too, not to mention the other dampers I have had on my car.
I plan to get another set again....

But let me vouch for the Spoon/Showa, they ride so smooth. I have driven on the Spoon/Showa and Apexi N1 before. The spoon is far superior in performance compared to the Apexi N1. The spoons are stiffer at full stiff and softer and full soft when compared to the N1s. But the only down fall with the Spoon is the cheap construction. The N1 are made from aluminum and the ride height is adjusted via lengthening and shortening the shock body.
hey you two .. how would zeal b6's compare to spoon's or the N1s?
I know MiraiZ or other people from JDM land might say differently but I feel our North American asses are more prone to broken pavement than what I saw and experienced when I was riding around in Japan....
But they offer a lot of value over the Showas in terms of FEATURES....
stroke adjustable, solid top hat mount with bushing, 6way adjustable.....etc..etc...and my personal fave..dustboots...haha
but their definitely on top of N1's ..like u said
i need to get my priorities straight. so i know what to go for and is no way i can get that then go down the list
